Biography - Freddy Komp

Freddy is currently studying Arts in Applied Theatre at Griffith University, focussing on his acting and directing skills. His second major (Screen Production) accommodates his technical background in IT, allowing him to further develop his cinematographic talent. His academic achievements have been awarded in 2007 with the annual Griffith Award for Academic Excellence.

His most influential artistic role model is the french duo Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro with their dense, sickly-luxurious creations of “Delicatessen” and “The City of Lost Children”. Freddy sees his artistic challenge in translating dramatic text into additional layers of complementary media.

Freddy's emerging label “Budget?! Features” (founded in 2006) specialises in the creation and manipulation of audiovisual media.

The label’s main focus remains on Vision Design for theatrical productions like the critically acclaimed “Independents 2007” documentary play THE KURSK at !Metro Arts or Jo Loth’s Jazz Cabaret DR MANDI’S 9 EASY STEPS TO ROMANTIC BLISS [!Metro Arts 2007 and later Brisbane Powerhouse (as part of the Brisbane Cabaret Festival 2007)].

The Brisbane portfolio also includes original DV editing, DV composing and DVD-Authoring (FAUST [Griffith University 2007], MEMOIRS OF THE FORGOTTEN ONES [!Metro Arts 2007], SLOW FALLING BIRD [!Metro Arts 2007]), Multimedia Design (FAUST [Griffith University 2007]).

Another one of the label’s emerging branches is Print Media Design, recently for the Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble’s productions of MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING [Roma St Parkland 2007] in and METAMORPHOSES [Brisbane Powerhouse 2008].
